>Gratitude, Day 4

November 12, 2009

>Write a short message of thanks for some of the “negative” things in your life.

I’m thankful for my strong-willed, defiant little babes. This fire within them will, God-willing (and I survive), buoy them in later years when they face peer-pressure and trials in their adult life – and keep them going.

I’m thankful for the piles of laundry I’ve yet to fold tonight, because I didn’t have to wash them by hand, and I love the little bodies that will wear those socks and undies this week.

I’m thankful for my dusty house, because I have one. I’m even thankful for our ridiculous Silicon Valley mortgage payment, because we still manage to have the means to pay it every month.

I’m thankful that I’m the one to clean our house, wash our clothes, vacuum our floors, and scrub our showers, because I’m married to a guy who empties the dishwasher, cleans the cat box, changes diapers, makes a hot breakfast for the kids almost every day, mows the lawn, and does really nasty, dirty jobs like cleaning gutters, hairball maintenance, and repairing sprinklers and stuff like that. And when one of the kids wakes up puking…he does the dirty work while I put them in the tub. Basically, I’m married to Mike Rowe’s twin brother. ‘Cept mine’s cuter.

Oh, and he can cook, too. Way better than me. I used to have a real complex about it. But then I woke up.
