Gratitude Monday

May 2, 2011

I leave tomorrow to teach a class on new media at the Pepperdine Bible lectures. I spent much of the weekend getting ready and doing lots of laundry (see tomorrow’s post).

But in the middle of all that was the perfect batch of cookies – my very own refined recipe from hundreds of efforts over the years and finally – it’s perfect.

And there are now vegetable beds in my backyard, and they are full of gorgeous new, virgin soil.

And a flat on the back porch, filled with lettuce and beans, tomatoes and cukes and all sorts of summer goodness.

And my herbs have been replanted for the season – the oregano and chives, looking sprightly after a hard winter. A new rosemary, purple sage, Italian parsley, thyme and mint.

It just makes you hungry, don’t it?

And the warm sun shining down – finally, finally, a warm sun – and many hours spent outside, or sitting in doors with the sliders open and the fountain on and the scent of roses blowing through the house.

I’m grateful for a true Sabbath weekend.
