Late Summer Dinner Party

It was one of those evenings where we lingered on the patio, well after dark. The shortening days brought an earlier sunset, but candles and the arbor’s twinkle lights were all that were necessary. The boys put on light shows with hand-fulls of glo-sticks. The food and the company all turned out just perfect. All the produce and herbs coming out of our own tiny suburban garden. I’ve battled with piecrust and won, but I still make them so rarely – the spectre of those early failures causing me to procrastinate. Finally getting down to business, the entire process takes less than 30 minutes and my happy little pie ended the perfect late summer supper.
