My Mom the Style Icon
As usual, Gabe and I were late to the party. We only just started watching Mad Men over the summer when all our other favorite shows like Raising Hope and Parenthood and Castle had ended for the season.
We didn’t start watching American Idol till Season 5. Hence, we’re not at all fed up with it yet!
There’s a trend.
We love the show. I’m utterly fascinated with the juxtaposition of cultures more than anything else. What was normal then is downright shocking now.
I also love the clothes. And the hair. As I watch Betty Draper, I just block out all her bad behavior and picture my mom. She had mad hair in the 60’s.
And this was just for Sunday morning church. Easter Sunday, to be precise. Note the smokin’ awesome braid and pin curls.
With the 70’s, she just kept pace. I used to laugh at her big sunglasses…now I wear them myself. And the scarf and hat…dang. My mom the style icon. I really must send one of these photos in.
she looks like she came out of a September 2011 Harper’s ad! gorgeous.
Wow!! Your mom was absolutely beautiful and you look just like her!! Now it is clear where you get your amazing style sense from. Kind of classic with an edge.
Ditto Melody! Your mom was gorgeous and so stylish – and you look JUST like her! Amazing. I can’t get over her hair – love the details and little curls!
