Five Minute Friday: Connect
Our days are so busy.
The routine starts at 5am – he leaves for the gym, I try to go back to sleep. A small boy crawls in bed with me and together we hold on to the last moments of sleep.
6am and off I go, trudging through the parking lot in the dark, waking up among sweaty strangers as we run and climb and jog to nowhere.
Off to work, errands, life, then home again. Jumping from the car straight into dinner preparations, throw a load of laundry in, remind them to hurry up, take a bath, take a shower, take out the trash.
We meet and sit, finally, at the table. The boys arguing over who gets to sit by mommy but today mommy picks daddy and we talk about our day.
A pause in the continuum of routine. They tussle on their side of the table, hopping up to pet a cat.
Chew with your mouth closed, sweetie.
They regale us with stories, we laugh a little.
What was your high? What was your low? What was your medium?
They always ask and we answer.
So often my high is this moment, the best part of my day when time finally stops moving if only for a moment and
we all connect.
1. Write for 5 minutes flat – don’t edit; don’t second-guess.
2. Link back The Gypsy Mama and invite others to join in.
3. Leave a comment for the person who linked up before you – encouraging them in their writing!
Bless you.
Oh, Adelle, I got such a clear picture from this snapshot of your life. Great job!!
Enjoyed my first visit here. Love the high, low, medium questions. Nice.
Have a bless day in the Lord.
I love your words & this beautiful picture you have painted of your highest moment of the day! 🙂
