Do You Elf?

November 26, 2012

Do you Elf, on the Shelf? Do you, do you, do you Elf?

Would you, could you, in a tree, on a mantle..but let him be!

Do not touch him, do not dare! You must not touch him or beware!

He will vanish, off your tree, out of town, wait, you will see!

Ok, I’m done now. Click the image above to read more about this charming and relatively new Christmas shenanigans to play with your kids. We’ve been doing it the last five years or so, and even my recently disillusioned nine year old still gets into the fun.

Our elf, Mudge, has been kidnapped by Buzz Lightyear and suspended from the dining room armoire. He’s hidden inside glasses in the kitchen cupboards, ridden in Santa’s sleigh on the Christmas tree, dangled from the chandeliers, peeped from bookcases, and crawled inside of toy boxes.

But if you need some ideas…here are just a few:

What are your favorite Elf antics and tricks?

Our Elf, Mudge, traveled with us to Texas this Thanksgiving and surprised our little one by appearing on Uncle and Aunty’s mantlepiece Friday morning, and in the kitchen the following day. Sunday, he was nowhere to be seen until we walked into our home after a long day of travel and – ta da! Mudge was waiting for us at home. How did he know?!  (That maneuver was almost as stressful as our last Tooth Fairy incident…I deserve a medal.)
