Boy-Moms, What You’re Doing Now Means Something. Here’s Why…

November 21, 2013

This is too important and pivotal not to share it with you all RIGHT NOW.

Harvard has just released results from The Great Study – a 75 year long study of Adult Development that charted the physical and emotional health of 238 men for 75 years. What makes them happy? What makes them successful? What is the key to overall life satisfaction? The answer is not surprising – it’s love. Relationships. Family. Friends.

Living alone, and for yourself alone, does not equal happiness. Love equals happiness, then end.

And yet, there is more:

Men who had ‘warm’ childhood relationships with their mothers took home $87,000 more per year than men whose mothers were uncaring.  Men who had poor childhood relationships with their mothers were much more likely to develop dementia when old.

Now go and hug your sons, and your daughters, too, because I’m pretty sure a mama’s love is going to change the course of her life as well.

You are enough. Just as you are. Now go…hug them. Whisper in their ears that they are destined for greatness, that you are proud of them. That you admire them. And then hug them again.

Well of course! Moms are the most important person in anyone’s life. Fathers are a distant second, sometimes third, coming in behind wives. That’s just the way it is.

Yeah, but while we moms make a difference in our sons overall success, it’s dads who make them feel secure and safe all their lives. It’s a two-part combo – both equally valuable!

Yeah, yeah…nice try! It’s OK, really. I agree it’s a two-part combo, but not equal. It is what it is. I’m not complaining. I understand. We have our role.

I love comments! Go ahead. Give me a piece of your mind.
